PANOLA COUNTY, Miss.–A nine-day-old baby was being kept in bad conditions inside a house in Panola County, according to the sheriff’s department there. Several dogs and cats and a horse were also rescued as three people were arrested.
The check that led to the discovery of the conditions was last week.
Deputies charged Steven Archer, 32, and Kaitlyn Kirtley, 28, with animal cruelty. In addition Kirtley is charged with keeping an animal confined without food or water. That was because a horse was found starved on the property on Morris Ln.
The horse is being cared for by a private organization.
Angel Brimhall, 28, is charged with child neglect causing harm. Deputies called Child Protective Services to determine whether the child should be removed from the care of the mother.
