On Sunday, May 29, 2022 at approximately 11:50 p.m. the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Shelby Police Department requesting assistance with crowd control resulting from a large party at a local club.
Before Deputies could arrive at the location, several gunshots were heard near the club. When Deputies arrived on scene, they discovered two male subjects lying on the ground next to a vehicle that sustained multiple bullet holes.
The two male subjects were pronounced dead on the scene and were later identified as 36-year-old Sammyo Smith of Cleveland, MS and 20-year-old Jakavion Johnson of Cleveland, MS.
Two other victims suffered from gunshot wounds and were treated and released from local hospital facilities.
