MOON LAKE, Miss.–A body was pulled from Moon Lake Wednesday night about 10 p.m. after a two-hour search, said the Coahoma County Fire Dept.
No ID was being provided as of Thursday evening, pending the notification of next of kin. The man was described as a white male. The death likely had nothing to do with the storm, as it happened well before Francine’s arrival in the Delta.
The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Dept. said in a news release that a truck was spotted at the landing about 7:30. The citizen who called it in said the truck had been there for several hours. Deputies who responded believed the man went in to retrieve his boat.
The search began with members of the Coahoma County Fire Dept. Search and Rescue Team and also included game wardens.
The man was pronounced dead once his body was pulled from the water.
