CLARKSDALE, Miss.–A renowned Delta minister has died. Superintendent Walter Dixon died Friday, according to a Facebook post from Clarksdale Mayor Chuck Espy.
At the age of 104, Dixon was still pastoring two churches and overseeing 13.
His title of superintendent refers to his leadership role in the Clarksdale District of the Church of God in Christ.
“The longtime resident will be remembered for his electrifying messages of hope and kind spirit,” said Espy.
Dixon was also a U.S. Navy veteran.
