MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss.–Almost $40,000 in student activity fees was stolen at H.W. Byers High School from the student activity fees account between 2020 and 2022, ny the school’s former financial secretary. says State Auditor Shad White. He announced Monday that Dana Walker pleaded guilty to the embezzlement.
She’ll be sentenced in August.
According to a news release from White’s office, Walker was entrusted with collecting the money from fundraisers, graduation fees, athletic uniforms, parking decals, etc., but funneled the money to herself.
