A suspect has been arrested and charged following a shots-fired incident at a local Sonic Drive-In in Cleveland, Mississippi on Friday, according to the Cleveland Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as J.W. Edwards Dye Jr., 25. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 4 p.m. and took the suspect into custody within minutes, authorities said.
Dye was initially charged with seven counts of aggravated assault, along with one count of discharging a firearm within city limits and one count of carrying a concealed firearm. Following an initial court appearance, a Cleveland Municipal Court judge set bond at $1 million on four counts of aggravated assault, as well as the firearm-related charges.
Authorities said no injuries were reported. Both the suspect and the victim are employees of the Sonic location where the incident occurred.
Dye remained in custody at the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility as of the latest update.
Police Chief Dudley Tribble said the case remains under investigation.
