GREENVILLE, Miss.–Efforts to improve the Delta Hot Tamale Festival have paid off, at least in recognition and interest. The festival is expected to be bigger than ever this year, with organizers trying to figure out the layout to be able to fit in the increased number of vendors.
“We have actual;y received a significant amount of attention following the USA Today award of Best Specialty Food Festival in the nation,” said Daniel Boggs, with Main Street Greenville, at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
He said the increased attention means more people are expected to attend and that means more and different vendors want to be a part of the festival.
“So, we’re expecting a whole nother group of vendors at this year’s festival. We really received a lot of new craft and food vendors.”
He said the festival is also up for some state awards.
“I’ll be quite honest with you, the entire Delta, Washington County, we’re just gobbled up with nominations in all categories,” he said.
Boggs said you can expect to hear about the festival’s music line-up soon. The festival is October 18 and 19.
