CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University’s Library Services has partnered with The Bridge Community Development Center to enhance information literacy skills for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through this collaboration, the DSU library held workshops in October to teach participants essential skills for safely navigating today’s information landscape.
Eight participants from The Bridge attended an initial session on October 11, where they learned about finding reliable information, understanding its value, and protecting their privacy online. Director of Library Services Fawn Ussery expressed the library’s enthusiasm for the initiative. “Our team was thrilled to work with these young adults, helping them develop skills that are essential in the digital age,” she said. “We’re dedicated to making learning accessible and meaningful for all.”
The workshops, led by DSU librarians Laurie Muffley and Peter Dean, provided one-on-one support to ensure key concepts were presented in an inclusive way. A second session was held on October 25, offering further engagement opportunities.
