Fuel Prices Up, then Down This Past Few Weeks

CAMARILLO, CA (Ben Caxton) — You’re probably paying less to fill your gas tank this week than you did last week, but more than you did last month and more than you did a year ago. Reduced tensions between the US and Iran have caused oil prices to temporarily drop. The national average which hit $2.64 a few days ago has temporarily fallen to $2.58 per gallon for regular. Mississippi’s average price is $2.28 per gallon, fourth-lowest in the nation behind Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas while the average price per gallon is $3.00 or higher on the west coast. The price at the pump is 33 cents higher than it was a year ago. The highest average price in the nation for regular-grade gas is $3.58 per gallon in Honolulu. The lowest average is $2.21 in Houston. The average price of diesel is $3.08, up two cents.
