CLEVELAND, Miss.–Mississippi is likely to continue to have some of the cheapest gas in the country in 2025, said Patrick DeHaan, head of Petroleum Analysis for Gasbuddy.
“Mississippi generally has been one of the cheapest states for gasoline prices,” he said in a Monday interview with Delta Radio. “That’s where Mississippi is today, the second cheapest in the nation, second only to Oklahoma.”
DeHaan credits low gas taxes, the low cost of living and the close proximity to refineries in Texas and Louisiana.
DeHaan said that should continue in the new year.
“We expect that Mississippi’s yearly average will likely be between $2.69 to $3.03 per gallon. That’s one of the cheapest states.”
DeHaan said he does not expect the change in administration to have a direct immediate effect on gas priuces.
