CLEVELAND, Miss.–Mississippi sizzles this weekend, with temperatures in the Delta reaching potentially dangerous levels. The high Friday will be 97, while Saturday and Sunday you could see over 100.
“There’s a strong high pressure over the northeastern United States that’s expected to gradually build and we will warm up over the next several days,” explained National Weather Service forecaster David Cox.
The high pressure is why you’re not seeing much of a chance for rain through the weekend.
“We will get heat indices over 105. Dangerous heat is possible during that time,” he said.
You are advised to stay inside if you can. If you can’t, take frequent breaks. Drink plenty of water and check on pets and make sure they stay cool.
