WASHINGTON, DC (Ben Caxton) — The National Retail Federation estimates holiday sales this year will be between $727 and $730 billion, about four percent higher than last year. More than 68 million people spent $9.4 billion online on Cyber Monday yesterday and online Black Friday sales were $7.4 billion, the second-highest online sales day ever. Memphis-based FedEx set a record of its own yesterday, moving 33 million packages through its network on Cyber Monday and predicts it will more than double its average daily package volume on the next two Mondays. Disney’s Frozen 2 toys, video games, and electronics are the most popular items this year.
