A shooting early Sunday morning has led to the arrest of a suspect in Coahoma County. Deputies responded to a call about a shooting on East First Street at approximately 1:13 a.m. on July 28, 2024. The victim, identified as ReShardo Gardner, was found at the scene and received medical aid but later died from his injuries.
Investigators learned that Tarrence Jones was the suspect in the shooting. Authorities reported that Jones and Gardner had been involved in an argument that escalated to gunfire. Following the incident, Jones fled the scene, prompting a search by local law enforcement.
Jones turned himself in at the Coahoma County Jail without incident on Monday, July 29th. He has been charged with First-Degree Murder and Shooting Into a Dwelling. The investigation is ongoing.
