GREENVILLE, Miss. — Three people have been arrested and a fourth is wanted in connection with a June shooting behind the Greenville Mall that left several vehicles damaged, according to the Greenville Police Department.
Officers responded around 5:53 p.m. June 27 to multiple reports of gunfire near the mall at 1714 Highway 1 South. Police found numerous spent shell casings in the parking lot behind the shopping center.
Investigators determined two white vehicles were involved in an exchange of gunfire. Several uninvolved vehicles parked in the area were struck, but no injuries were reported.
Police arrested 18-year-old Brandon Mitchell, who faces eight counts of shooting into a motor vehicle, one count of shooting into a dwelling and one count related to gang activity.
Cleveland Johnson, 23, faces eight counts of shooting into a motor vehicle, one count of shooting into a dwelling, one felony count related to gang activity and possession of marijuana with intent.
Jeremiah Jackson, 17, faces eight counts of shooting into a motor vehicle and one count of shooting into a dwelling.
Investigators are also searching for 21-year-old Tyshawn McCray, who is wanted on eight counts of shooting into a motor vehicle and one count of shooting into a dwelling. Police advised the public not to approach McCray.
“This investigation is another example of our detectives’ commitment to holding violent offenders accountable,” Police Chief Marcus R. Turner Sr. said. “Gun violence has no place in our community, especially in areas where families gather to shop and conduct business.”
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests or charges are possible.
