Two Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Greenville

GREENVILLE, Miss. – Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred early Thursday morning. Officers responded to reports of gunshots around 2 a.m. in the 1100 block of Cottage Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of a man and a woman lying underneath the carport of a residence.

The female victim has been identified as Chyniquia Johnson, 33, of Greenville. The suspect, who also died at the scene, was identified as Albert Lee, 32, of Cleveland. Witnesses reported seeing Lee walking around the neighborhood prior to the incident. Johnson and Lee had been in a long-term relationship that ended a few months ago.

“This is a tragic occurrence that has happened in our community,” said Greenville Police Chief Marcus Turner. “We’d like all citizens to understand the importance of taking precautionary measures surrounding domestic violence and domestic threatening. We are devastated by this violent act and encourage victims to speak up and seek help from relationships that show signs of any type of abuse.”
