Weather Office in Jackson Warns Against Wildfires

SHARE NOW

The National Weather Service has raised the wildfire danger in Mississippi a level, now calling it an “elevated threat”.  It says open burning is being discouraged through Friday because dry and warmer conditions and gusty winds could lead to fires getting out of control.

Dry and warmer conditions with winds are increasing the fire danger during the day in the region. Open burning is discouraged.

The Weather Forcast Office warns against letting trailer chains drag on the roadway and throwing lit cigarettes out of vehicle windows onto the side of the road.
