JACKSON, Miss.–Students in seventeen Delta school districts will be able to take advantage of a new program to help preserve their mental well-being. Part of the partnership announced Wednesday by Gov. Tate Reeves between the Miss. Development Authority and Canopy Children’s Solutions, includes access to professionals on devices.
But, most of the plan is designed to promote mental health with lessons about self-care and emotional wellness.
The Canopy Anywhere program also includes assessments that can help determine when deeper care is needed.
The districts in which students in grades 6 through 12 are eligible include: Clarksdale Municipal School District, Coahoma County School District, East Tallahatchie Consolidated School District, Greenville Public School District, Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District, Holmes Consolidated School District, Humphreys County School District, North Bolivar Consolidated School District, North Panola School District North, Quitman County School District, South Delta School District, Sunflower County Consolidated School District, Tunica County School District, West Bolivar Consolidated School District, West Tallahatchie School District, Winona-Montgomery Consolidated District and Yazoo City Municipal School District.
The $16 million project is being paid for with taxpayer dollars through Community Development Block Grants from the CARES Act.
