TUNICA, Miss.–Korea McKay, 44, of Tunica County, was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of ammunition. McKay is accused of the Feb. 18, 2023 murder of Davao Thomas at the Kirby Estates apartments.
McKay is a career criminal, already serving a four-year sentence for being a felon with a firearm in a case from DeSoto County.
Once he was out on bond in the Thomas murder state case, he was picked up on the federal charges.
The 15-year sentence is the maximum penalty McKay could get.
His previous convictions include: assault of a police officer and a federal drug conviction. At sentencing, records also show McKay is a violent, high-ranking member of the Vice Lords.
