Greenville, Miss. – The Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival marked a milestone this weekend, celebrating its 48th year as the longest continuously running blues festival in the world.
Hundreds of fans from across the United States and around the globe gathered in Greenville to experience the music where it all began — in the heart of the Delta.
This year’s festival featured performances from three-time Grammy Award winner Bobby Rush, FPJ, Willie Clayton, Shirley Brown, STL Bluesman, S Dott, LJ Echols, Bre Wooten and more.
“The Mississippi Delta Blues & Heritage Festival is a living phenomenon with national and international reach,” Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons said. “From legends like Mississippi Slim and Eden Brent to the incomparable Bobby Rush, the Blues is king in Greenville and across the Delta.”
Founded in 1978, the event has grown into a cultural tradition that highlights not only music but also the history, hospitality, and heritage of the Delta.
