GREENVILLE, Miss. — Two Greenville men have been arrested following a series of auto burglaries reported Thursday morning in the city.
According to the Greenville Police Department, officers responded around 9 a.m. Jan. 8 to the 300 block of North Gamwyn Park in reference to an auto burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned a victim’s Toyota pickup truck had been broken into and several items were taken.
While investigating that incident, police received multiple additional calls reporting vehicle burglaries in the same area. Investigators determined that two male suspects had entered several vehicles and stolen various items in the Fairview Avenue and Gamwyn Park neighborhoods.
Through a swift investigation, officers arrested 22-year-old Exzavius Phinisee and 21-year-old Maurion Clark, both of Greenville. The two have been charged with auto burglary and possession of stolen property. Additional charges are pending.
Greenville Police Chief Turner praised the department’s response, saying, “I would like to thank the hard-working men and women of the Greenville Police Department, including the investigative team that swiftly developed the facts and evidence that led to a quick arrest. We ask the community to continue reaching out with important information that helps us close these felony cases.”
Clark and Phinisee are being held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility while awaiting their initial court appearances.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
