COAHOMA COUNTY, Miss. — The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $100,000 in law enforcement support funding through the 2025–26 Community Project Special Appropriations, an award made possible by U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson.
The funding will be used to support essential law enforcement operations and enhance public safety initiatives across Coahoma County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Only 10 counties within the congressional district were selected to receive the funding, making the award a notable achievement for Coahoma County, officials said.
Sheriff Mario Magsby Sr. credited the funding with helping strengthen the agency’s ability to serve the community and thanked Thompson for his continued advocacy on behalf of local law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office said the funding reflects its ongoing commitment to professional and effective service throughout the county.
