CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University’s Wright Art Center is presenting “Confluence,” an exhibition featuring works by artists Helene Fielder, Rick Anderson and Joe Abide, on view through Feb. 19.

The exhibition, which opened Jan. 22, brings together ceramic sculpture, atmospheric abstraction and pattern-based painting to explore themes of place, memory, rhythm and personal expression. Though each artist works in a distinct medium, the show highlights intersections in their approaches to form, surface and lived experience.

Fielder’s ceramic sculptures combine vessel-like forms with imaginative structures. Her use of bright color, carved geometric lines and shifting silhouettes suggests floral and figurative elements, encouraging viewers to move around each piece to experience changing relationships between interior and exterior space.

Anderson’s paintings range from mist-filled landscapes to compositions that merge detailed drawing with expansive fields of tone and color. Through layered washes, softened edges and subtle light, his work evokes rain, fog and elements of historic Delta architecture emerging from memory.

Abide contributes paintings and patterned drawings that emphasize repetition, abstract geometry and visual rhythm. His densely arranged shapes and lines create surfaces that suggest narrative without direct representation.

“Confluence” is on display at the Fielding Wright Art Center Gallery on Delta State’s campus at 1003 W. Sunflower Road.

A free closing reception is scheduled for Feb. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed on weekends, holidays and during semester breaks.
