CLEVELAND, Miss. — Students from Delta State University recently traveled to Los Angeles as official representatives of GRAMMY U, gaining hands-on experience during one of the music industry’s most prominent weeks of the year.
The students, enrolled in the university’s Delta Music Institute, worked at a variety of pre-GRAMMY events, assisting with event operations, interacting with entertainment professionals and observing industry standards at a national level.
The trip coincided with activities surrounding the 2026 GRAMMY Awards. In addition to their event responsibilities, students networked with professionals across multiple sectors of the entertainment industry and explored key cultural and creative sites in Los Angeles.
Representing Delta State were Johnathin Thompson of Moselle; Josie Spivey of Southaven; Marion Cork of Indianola; Louise Word of Greenville; and Jamarcus Brown of Lexington.
Richard Tremmel, director of the Delta Music Institute and chair of entertainment industry studies, said the experience highlights the importance of applied learning.
“Our students represented Delta State with excellence and returned with expanded industry insight and meaningful connections that will benefit them throughout their careers,” Tremmel said.
