GREENVILLE, Miss. — Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons is commending the Greenville Mississippi Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for its representation at the fraternity’s 90th Southwestern Province Council Meeting, while also recognizing longtime member Eddie Charles Brown as a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
The annual meeting drew more than 1,400 members from across New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas, highlighting the organization’s focus on leadership, service and achievement.
Greenville’s delegation attended under the leadership of Polemarch Sen. Derrick T. Simmons, continuing the chapter’s tradition of community involvement and organizational leadership.
A key moment of the event was the recognition of Brown, a Greenville resident, for decades of service, professional accomplishments and community leadership. Organizers said his work reflects the fraternity’s guiding principle, “Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor.”
“We are incredibly proud of the Greenville (Miss.) Alumni Chapter for representing our city with excellence on a regional stage,” Simmons said in a statement. “Brother Eddie Charles Brown’s recognition as a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is not only well-deserved — it is a testament to a life dedicated to service, leadership and lifting others.”
The chapter also marked the initiation of new members Malcolm Davis, Joshua Jenkins and Lamoyne Taylor, continuing its emphasis on scholarship and service.
“This gathering was more than a meeting — it was a movement,” Simmons said. “It reflected the power of unity, the strength of brotherhood and the continued commitment to building stronger communities.”
City officials also congratulated Southwestern Province leadership, including Province Polemarch C. Jerome Brown and newly elected officers, on what they described as a successful council meeting.
