Two Arrested For Introduction Of Contraband Into Bolivar County Jail

On Saturday April 9, 2022 the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office arrested two subjects in connection with the Introduction of Contraband into the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. a Bolivar County Sheriff’s Deputy noticed a vehicle slowing down near the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility.  The deputy also observed a male subject running from the facility grounds getting into the vehicle.  A traffic stop was made on the vehicle, which was occupied by one white female and one white male.

During the investigation, it was determined that the male subject had dropped contraband onto the facility grounds. The Deputies were able to find the contraband on the facility grounds, and while conducting a search of the vehicle, wire cutters, bolt cutters and controlled substances were found inside the vehicle.

Catherine Smith age 39 of Columbus, MS was charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.  Smiths bond was set at $5,000.   Patrick Griffin age 40 of Columbus, MS was charged with Introduction of Contraband into a Correctional Facility and three counts for Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Griffins bond was set at $20,000.
