Yazoo County Men Caught with Contraband

YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Drugs, a knife, a gun and electronics are all items that did not make it inside the federal prison in Yazoo City this weekend. That’s because the sheriff’s department intercepted the men who they believe planned to bring two bags of contraband to prisoners.

A Facebook post from the department shows the items, which also included cash, duct tape and binoculars, including a pair that may be modified for night vision.
Sheriff Jeremy “Bull” McCoy says they got a top about the men and the contraband about 7 Saturday night and staked out the hotel where they were staying.
When the two Hispanic men came out of the hotel with the bags deputies attempted to stop them. When they flipped on the blue lights the men didn’t stop and a short chase ensued. The men wrecked in a ditch, where the driver was caught. Two other men got away and are still on the run.
“To those with criminal intentions, be aware: under Sheriff McCoy’s leadership, Yazoo County, MS will not be a sanctuary for unlawful activities,” said the post.
